Dad's Miracle

When my dad married my mom he could not read. He had been taken out of school in the fourth grade to help his dad. This was allowed in those days if your help was needed on the farm. My dad never went back to school.

On his 23rd birthday, he received a Bible as a gift from someone. After the birthday party was over, he told my mom that he would give anything to be able to read God's word. That night he was awakened from sleep by a voice calling out to him. "Don, get up and go read the Bible." He thought it was my mom, but she told him he must have been dreaming and to go back to sleep. My dad went back to sleep, but about 30 minutes later he hard the voice again instructing him to get up and go read the Bible. He went to the dresser where the Bible had been laying closed. But now it was open to Mark 16:15. He was able to read from that night on!

The first sermon that my dad preached was on Mark 16:15. My dad passed away in 1996, but I will never forget the miracle that took place that night for my dad.
