Miracle from Stroke
What has occurred in our family is a modern day miracle. We are still
desperately trying to get someone in the medical profession to help us
further help the patient. We are looking for a South Florida Neurologist/
physician referral who has an excellent reputation for helping stroke
patients achieve maximum results. Our family needs an opinion on how to
proceed forward.
My mother-in-law, Gail Morse, had a category 5 aneurism on May 28, 2006.
The doctors at the Emergency Room in Boca Raton, FL claimed this was the
worst stage aneurism possible. After viewing Gail's MRI of her brain, it
was discovered that the aneurism was worse than a Category 5 and the doctors
rated it a Category 7. She was given zero chance to live. One of the
physicians that was in the ER suggested that we contact a Neurologist in
Broward, who was noted for his performance in "coil surgery". We did just
this and the Neurologist performed the coil surgery, giving Gail Morse a 1%
chance of surviving the surgery, let alone living to tell about it.
With much prayer from family, friends, the church, etc., now we are at
nearly 1 year later and guess what ? Gail is alive & progressing.
Unfortunately she is in a nursing home in Lake Worth, Florida. She is
completely coherent, responds to all requests, has conversations (mouthing
words, as she still has a tracheotomy (sp?). She has limited movement in
her right hand; however, she can move her arms, legs, etc. She can say the
names of all her grandchildren, sons, daughters-in-law, friends, etc. She
even still has her sense of humor. It truly is amazing to visit & see how
she has progressed.
Our family is seeking a neurologist referral to come and evaluate Gail. The
doctor that performed the coil surgery is not available. We have had a
tough time getting physical therapy, occupational therapy, etc. We do feel
that the nursing home Gail is in has just stopped trying at this point.
There is a video of Gail that was produced and shown to the church which has
what a miracle Gail's progress is... if we could get a neurologist referral
to review this video and possibly look at her medical records, we feel they
would insist that she continue to get further therapy to continue with
improving her condition.
Please refer a neurologist that specifically handles post-stroke patient
care in South Florida. We are willing at this point to pay whatever
necessary (although Gail is on Medicaid); however, the family feels that she
has not reached her potential for medical improvement; although the nursing
home will not acknowledge that she does or does not have room for medical
improvement.
Help ! Thank you and may God bless you !
