Josh's Second Chance

Wow! Where do I begin? I have been blessed with two very special children. My daughter at age 21 died tragically about 20 months ago. Heather was very special in the sense that she had visions of God many times over while alive, which she shared with me. Heather's calling was to be a nurse. She always felt the need to help heal the sick and injured, but God had other plans for her on July 4, 2005, the day he took her in his loving arms. Her death still today saddens our family deeply, and it has been extremely hard for her brother Joshua, which is the only child I have left. Joshua was 19 at the time of her death.

Six months before, Joshua had a devasting knee injury during his senior year of high school which crushed all hopes of ever playing baseball again, which was always his dream. And not to be partial, but he was very good at it. Two surgeries left him with a damaged knee, constant pain, and a limp that now became his normal way of walking that kept him from ever running again. Joshua became very depressed over losing his dream, then the death of Heather really sent him into a very deep depression.

On March 31, 2007, just a few days ago, my husband and I were out of town for the evening. Joshua had returned home from working all day. I received a phone call from him....he was crying so hard that I could barely make out what he was saying. After telling him to take a deep breath..I heard the words, "Mom, I ran" through a shaking voice filled with tears. I could not believe my ears, after calming him down enough to make out what he was saying, this is what he told me...."Momma, I was watching my favorite movie, The Rookie, and Heather appeared in front of me. She said that she was going to give me a second chance at my dream. She put her hands around my knee, held it for about 5 seconds, then told me to chase her. I told her that I cannot run, and she said, "yes, you can, chase me". Momma I got up, she went outside and she said, "just like when we were kids, chase me" Momma, I RAN after her, and when I caught up to her she looked at me and said "I love you, chase your dreams".

By now, I was crying over the phone. Joshua told me that the injured knee that has given him so much pain for the last 2 years was no longer painful, and he was running again. When I got home later, he anxiously wanted me to see. He ran out in the yard, and it was like seeing my baby walk for the first time! I believe that Heather, wanting to be a nurse, in Heaven, has been given the power to heal. That was God's plan for her. My son is no longer limping, feels no pain in his knee, and has been running every day since. I can't explain it other than to call it a miracle and a gift from his sister with God's divine grace. What else, could it be? Joshua feels that he has been given a second chance, and plans to get back into shape and seek his dream of becoming a baseball player.

Thank you for reading, and God Bless.
Cindy
